This is Part 3 of the Revenue Reset Challenge.
- Part 1: Turn Your Mindtrash Into Gold
- Part 2: Transform Your Pricing Paradigm
- Part 3: Confident Money Conversations
The Revenue Reset Challenge was originally hosted live back in September 2023, and it was transformational for everyone who participated. Get the original replays and workbook here.
Welcome back to the Revenue Reset Challenge! So far, we’ve unpacked a lot:
- We did the math and uncovered your mind trash around money.
- We learned how to do mind trash makeovers and shift your beliefs to create better results.
- We explored your personal pricing paradigm—and how you think your clients think about money, too.
Now it’s time to pick up the money you’re leaving on the table—and reset your revenue with the clients you’re already working with.
This Isn’t About Perfection. It’s About Progress.
If you’re starting to feel overwhelmed—like you have to fix everything before you can take action—pause right there. That’s just more mind trash.
You don’t need to get your business “cleaned up” before you’re allowed to raise your prices or start making more money. You clean it up as you go. That’s how growth works.
Even our most advanced students still uncover mindset blocks in new scenarios. That’s not a problem—it’s just part of the process.
Start With a Client Analysis
First, make a list of every client you’re currently working with. Include:
- Active projects
- Retainer or maintenance clients
- Clients who pop in for random updates
Then ask yourself:
- What results has this client created from working with me?
- How do I feel about what I’m charging them?
- Is this pricing still aligned with my skills and experience?
- Am I doing work I’m not charging for?
- If I could wave a magic wand, what would I change?
- Do I love working with this client? Why or why not?
You’ll start to notice patterns—places where you’re undervaluing your work, letting scope creep slide, or hanging onto clients you’ve outgrown.
Pricing Guilt, Friends-and-Family Discounts, and “They Just Need One More Thing…”
Many web designers find themselves stuck in outdated agreements. You charge a legacy client way less than you’d charge someone new. You keep doing work for free. You’ve got people living rent-free in your calendar and your brain.
You might be telling yourself:
- “They’ve been with me forever—I can’t raise their rates.”
- “It only takes a few minutes, so I’ll just do it.”
- “I’ll fix this once I get through this next busy season.”
But here’s the thing: this “client closet” full of messy arrangements is costing you time, energy, and money. And it’s keeping you from taking on aligned, better-paying clients.
It’s Time to Reset. One Client at a Time.
You don’t have to send a mass email to all your clients announcing your new rates. You don’t have to blow everything up at once. That’s a recipe for panic.
Instead, start with the most misaligned client. The one that takes the most mental bandwidth. The one that causes you the most resentment or stress. Create a plan to reset the arrangement—and follow through on just that one.
Then move on to the next. And the next. That’s how you build confidence and momentum.
“But What If I Lose Them?”
You might. And that’s okay.
Because if working with them is actually costing you money (time you could be using to get higher-paying clients, marketing, or just resting), then keeping them isn’t helping you. It’s hurting you.
You don’t have to charge every client the same thing. You don’t have to offer the same package to everyone. You can roll out new pricing slowly and strategically.
This is your business. You get to make the rules.
Now It’s Time to Take Action
You’ve done your analysis. You’ve looked at what needs to change. Here’s your next step: choose one client and take one action.
That could look like:
- Sending an email to raise their rate
- Putting a scope creep boundary in place
- Asking for payment on an overdue invoice
- Ending the relationship entirely
You don’t have to be confrontational or apologetic. You just have to be clear.
What If You’re Scared to Hit Send?
Your hands might sweat. Your brain might scream. That’s okay.
When that happens, go back to your mind trash makeover tools. Remind yourself that your client is a grown adult who can make their own decisions. You’re not forcing anything on them—you’re offering them a choice.
You’re allowed to charge more. You’re allowed to change your mind. You’re allowed to evolve.
You’re Not Starting Over. You’re Cleaning Up.
So many web designers think they have to change their niche, redo their brand, or rebuild their website to start fresh. But your power move isn’t starting over—it’s cleaning up what’s already in front of you.
Pick up the money you’re leaving on the table. Clear the clutter. Reclaim your energy.
And if you want support doing it—with proven scripts, strategies, and coaching on the mindset stuff that comes up when you actually start implementing—we’d love to work with you inside the Web Designer Academy.
You don’t have to do this alone. But you do have to take the first step.
You’ve got this—and we’ve got you.
