-Celebrated my 26 year wedding anniversary!
-Happy client delivery yesterday (post workshop email sequence) 🤩
-I feel calm, peaceful and unworried about hitting my minimum viable income the rest of this year!
00:04:42 JEN: Wins – Had two of my wishy washy maintenance clients re sign up. Lost one more who wanted both a designer and dev in one package and I’m not doing much design these days. So I’ve been reaching out to designers and copywriters to talk about teaming up on projects which is going great.

00:46:54 JEN: Yeah but what if one of those pages is a 26 section sales page?
00:46:58 Janet Hoover: Ah….Ok gotcha…I was wondering if the client was going to ask…but what is that? Makes sense now…thank you! I can explain that out in the vid
00:48:00 Laura Nurse: hold up – is that strategy row, basically paid discovery? I thought paid discovery was about creating a brief for the project not the flushed out plan for what the client needs and how they’re going to use it.
00:48:45 Pauline Wiles: Replying to “Yeah but what if one…”
Yes, a friend of mine (not in WDA) landed an author client who figured out she is pricing per page; the client then said she wanted all 14 books on one page and my friend was too embarrassed to hold the boundary. Ouch.
00:49:44 Sarah Guilliot (SarahDesign.com): It’s kind of impossible to put a price on this unless you know the number of pages in advance so I’ve found the paid discovery to be critical for that kind of project
00:50:39 JEN: Replying to “Yeah but what if one…”
Yup. Been there 😉
00:50:49 Pauline Wiles: Reacted to “Yup. Been there ;-)” with 🦋
00:50:59 Laura Nurse: Replying to “It’s kind of impossi…”
I solved that problem by having a preset patricks for each of 13, 9, and 4 page sites. they don’t vary a lot, but for the timeline and pricing.
00:50:59 Ruby Javaid: Replying to “It’s kind of impossi…”
Yes this! And then I put the same number of pages or sections or whatever they need across the board. How we get there is dependent on the package of course
00:51:27 Sarah Guilliot (SarahDesign.com): Replying to “It’s kind of impossi…”
Good stuff!
00:51:32 JEN: Reacted to “It’s kind of impossi…” with 👍
00:53:40 Kim Blake: Replying to “It’s kind of impossi…”
I put a page range: 6-8, 10-14, 20-25, etc., whatever was discussed in the discovery call.
00:53:52 Tracy Trathen • e design studio, LLC: Replying to “It’s kind of impossi…”
I always mention that every website gets the “Core 4” pages (the pages that are on every website), standard policy page(s), plus up to X number of additional pages on the site (more pages allowed if it’s high-end, middle amount if it’s magic middle, and low number for the low-end).
00:54:22 Kim Blake: Replying to “It’s kind of impossi…”
@Tracy Trathen • e design studio, LLC yes!

@Tracy Trathen • e design studio, LLC but then isn’t it no longer apples to apples, if each level has different number of pages?
00:56:21 Kim Blake: Replying to “If you know a client…”
Most of my leads don't want DIY, so I don't offer it.
00:56:41 Laura Nurse: Replying to “If you know a client…”
@Pauline Wiles I resist offering this too.
00:56:44 Janet Hoover: Reacted to “@Tracy Trathen • e d…” with 👍
00:57:45 Tracy Trathen • e design studio, LLC: Replying to “It’s kind of impossi…”
It is – because they’re getting additional pages, just a different number of additional depending on which tier they choose just not the same number… but they get the core 4, and the policy pages.
And I do tell them that their site page number isn’t locked down, but if they want to do them, it will cost more.
00:59:09 Tracy Trathen • e design studio, LLC: Replying to “It’s kind of impossi…”
It’s like:
*High, Middle, Low
Pages:
*Core 4, Core 4, Core 4
*Policy, Policy, Policy
* 12 additional, 6 additional, 3 additional
01:00:01 Janet Hoover: Thoughts on putting (for small projects/new businesses) putting a 1 page site as the low end
01:02:30 Ruby Javaid: I try to avoid using DIY in the language. It's always “starter” or “essentials” instead which helps because then they know it's the minimum they need to get going
