And sometimes I use a similar but more comprehensive form of that audit (called a blueprint) that I’ll sell to a client as an initial sort of scoping exercise that results in a document with a proposal. In either case if they book a large project I’ll deduct the cost they already paid

This is exactly what I want to do! Even if they came to you wanting services, you’d have to do an audit of sorts to understand their website and needs. So may as well get paid for it!

*nods* perfect! Yeah So many people reach out, about my “prices” and I tend to do so much research for them for free, and then they ghost. So, I want to add something similar to my packages/add-on, so that I can actually get paid for that time

I have thought of doing this. My idea was to charge for the audit and then apply the cost towards the project if they go with me. Especially since I’d end up doing this work anyway, If they don't go with me, then they have the audit that they can use moving forward. The project would include the audit cost so when the audit payment is applied I am not losing money. I hope that makes sense.
